Hello, my name is Ben Younce and I’ve been a Hoosier Chapter member since 1999 when I was introduced to the marque by family friend Kelly G. (who was concerned that I might make an inferior used car purchase!) We soon located a suitable 92 E36 318is and the rest is history. Another E36 and E61 followed and I spent my earlier years trying to make my cars look and go faster, albeit with minor success.
I owe my interest in fine automobiles to my father, a Ford man from birth who thought something was wrong with me when I took interest in “foreign cars” that I read about in his car magazines. His love of cars was fostered by his grandfather who worked at the National Automobile Company in Indianapolis back in the very early 1900s, so I guess it’s in my DNA.
With an appreciation of the history of the automobile and a fascination with the Ultimate Driving Machine, I quickly turned my attention to vintage BMWs, their care and preservation. I’m lucky to be the current caretaker of four older BMWs: ’68 2002, ’71 1600, ‘87 325 and ’88 535i.
In the warmer months, you’ll find me out on the road caravanning to vintage BMW events and shows. I’m always on the lookout for interesting stories and treasures that help fuel my passion for the cars, the club, the wonderful people and friendships who make it so great!
